DSJFC is in talks with Preston North End FC
At a recent meeting of the league's members, our club secretary, Stuart Aspinall, was enthused by what he heard from the visiting PNE development officer.
After the meeting Stuart made further contact with the Championship side and a meeting was set up after PNE did more groundwork and research on our club. They were impressed with what they saw and invited Stuart along with all team managers and coaches and the club's President, Max Rattray, to attend a meeting at Deepdale.
The meeting went extremely well, having been chaired by Preston's academy director and ex pro Darren Finch.
Although still only early days and nothing is YET finalised, Duddon stand to earn a partnership with PNE and a very healthy one at that. We will be able to send teams down to Preston to play against their academy sides in pre season, we'll be able to send lads to their centre of excellence on an informal basis (meaning they can still play for our club whilst training with PNE twice a week), PNE scouts will visit us and attend our fixtures, we will recieve tickets at very low cost to watch PNE home games, tour Deepdale, tour their centre of excellence and have their academy coaches deliver first class soccer schools to our teams during school holidays, again at VERY low cost to parents.
There are still a lot of things to discuss and iron out between the two clubs but at this stage things are looking very promosing indeed. WATCH THIS SPACE.
